A traditional summer pastime in Arlington,Vermont involves packing a lunch, some drinks, deciding if it will be in a kayak, tube, or raft, and float down the Battenkill River. The Green Mountain water is cold but refreshing especially on a hot summer day.
The kayaks are all singles and we have both the sit in or sit on top kayaks. We also offer floating coolers but supplies are limited so please ask if any are available for your reservation. New to our equipment are the rafts that can hold a parent and smaller child or a furry family member as well.
Please visit the site to learn more about Big Big, how to be prepared for your trip, review the visual page for further helpful tips, and of course print our waiver to bring with you.
Calling in advance insures you are on the calendar and for the date and time you would like to go out. Calling the day you would like to float is NOT A GOOD IDEA as we get so busy we can't handle the calls, texts, and emails and means you miss out. So call even up to the night before and if we don't answer just leave name, phone, number in group, equipment you want to rent, date and time, and don't call any place else as we will call you when we get back in the office even if it is in the evening.
At the bottom of this site is the google map pin for directions to the New York Service Road parking lot just before the Vermont border or just after entering New York depending on which direction you are coming from. If coming from New York and you see the Welcome to Vermont sign STOP and turn around and literally the parking lot is less than a minute drive from the sign and it's a paved pull out with a bulletin board and picnic tables. If coming from Vermont as soon as you see the Welcome to New York sign in less than a minutes drive you will see the parking lot on the left. If you go over the river STOP and turn around parking lot right there on the right.
We meet you at the parking lot with gray van and orange tubes. If you do not see us we will be there. I try to hang at the picnic table with an orange tube by the bulletin board. We take payment and you get your instructions and the exit. From there we shuttle you up river and you float back down to your car where you collect anything you may have left with us and we collect our equipment.
YOU NEED TO VISIT THE "What You Need to Know" tab of this site and the "Waiver" tab. I am on the road a lot or busy taking calls so this site tells you every thing I would tell you on the phone. This saves me a lot of time explaining and saves my voice ;)
